Heal the Land
The Ravenous Munkz are poised to step out of the monastery and give hip-hop a piece of their minds. Armed with the production of producer / lyricist Cortez 'C-Priest' Thomas and the raw talents and energies of D'Mo, Dematta, and L.I.L Mac, the vow of silence will indeed be broken by these emcees. Their sound is driven by Thomas' powerful synthesizer based compositions with limited samples, against the grain of this sample driven industry. Lyrically these four feed off of each other like an urban Abbott and Costello, with clever anecdotes and thought provoking topics. Don't get it confused though, these guys know how to party too. Recognizing the many obstacles that face them by trying to break into an industry flooded with lyricist and producers, this clan has decided to release their music independently under the U Was Up Productionz/Monastery Records moniker. They are indeed ready to think as both businessmen and entertainers to ensure that their music reaches a large audience. And don't go thinking that these four aren't as close as a group of bonafide monks. Their connections go back as far as grade school and the dream of becoming recording artists has fizzled in their brains upon first being introduced to hip-hop in the 80's. They have been functioning as a legitimate group since 1999 but were forced to test their patience as group member L.I.L. Mac finished his college requirements. While many will immediately notice the racial structure of the group, it's members stray away from letting that issue define them. 'We will always let our music speak for itself and let those who want to focus on the simplicities of our movement do so' L.I.L Mac.
