The name: The band name originated from the fact that, because of my bourgeois existence, serious work on the songs is just possible during the nights. Especially in creative phases, there may be that only about 2 and 4 hours sleep remaining. Therefore taken the name 'My private Insomnia' with the 'My' to sacrifice the band-collective ;-). The Line Up: Grilli Pollheimer I met with a unique music project about 7 years ago. He was just 17 and I was very impressed because he had simply been big for his age, musical understanding and listening skills while playing. Not self-evident for a drummer, but this is simply much more possible to band dynamics. As I now formed the new band, I remembered him and called him out of hand. After he had heard my song drafts, he was immediately there and also brought Sina Shaari for the guitar, a 20-year-old Persian with an incredible musical background. After an initial 'familiarization trial' it was immediately clear that the chemistry is right. Last but not least my long time friend and companion Claude joined the band who I could win to play bass. He was certainly underscored the 'missing link' in this whole thing, the first rehearsal in the complete line-up felt great for all of us, the subsequent photo shoot proved that impression. Thus, we were finally complete in May 2011: Sina, Claude, Grilli and Heinz. The music: Private Insomnia is primarily an alternative rock band. Filippo Gaetani (producer) has it even described as: Classic Rock meets Chris Cornell, which probably get there fairly well. The influences are certainly in the field of Hard / Classic Rock but mainly by bands like Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Foo Fighters, the Pixies, etc. .. Whatever, arrive at your own conclusions!!(!) The EP recording: In August 2010, we decided (3 guys until then) us to go into the studio. The recording sessions were quite intense, because we wanted to do four songs in three days, including assembly and dismantling. Murphy's usual technical defects (amplifier burned, several broken cables, etc.) didn´t make things any easier but there was already a professional attitude of the band. It was simply aimed goat continued to work, unmoved by any adversity. It was then that the fourth Song (Toys of Distress), we started to record at 7pm oft he last day. We should be ready at midnight. There was no playback prepared for the drums so I started to record a pilot track on the acoustic guitar (a great Lariveé btw ;-)). So I closed my eyes and played to the click track. When I opened my eyes again, everyone stared at me, with the words: "Thank you that's it", so the first tracks were in the box. Grilli then made the same with the drums. First Take, and we were back in business :-). This song is an absolute scan recommendation because the feeling is abolutely "canned for eternity" ;-) The EP production: For editing / mixing and mastering, the two producers / engineers Filippo Gaetani (e.g. My Excellence, Adrina Thorpe and many, many others) and Jordon Zadorozny could be won to finish the EP. Their professional touch lifted the recordings to the next level . And here we are, with a 4 track EP from this session. It's called 'Fast Enough', the title track was written for Rainer "Ranger" Gindl who died in a base jump accident in 2009. You have to check out "Toys of Distress" and "Hug Me" for their intense feeling and blood, sweat and tears. And i screamed the hell out of my voice! ;-) Stay tuned and all the best! Cheers Heinz.
