I Was Here
It is a little known fact, if you were to look up at the night sky and a star happened to catch your gaze, the light that the star exudes is tens to hundreds or even thousands of years away. In essence, the phenomenon in which you observe has been burning bright with possibility since it's birth, a manifestation cultivated by time, shining so bright so compelling that it forces it's way into our existence for all to witness. In 1988 a star was born, his name, Peter Baldwin and twenty years later he's shining his way into our lives... All you have to do is look up. Raised by pastor Carl Leon Baldwin and military mom Barbara Denise Baldwin, this youthful intellectual and less not forget Mind Blowing Sensation has a lot to say about the world we live in and he doesn't mean from a political stand point. "I mean it's everyday life... I want to be famous yeah, but not for the sole purpose of fortune, it's more about the association between fame and the power of words. For instance, Brad Pitt can build homes in Louisiana and save lives or Oprah can make your mom, my mom and everybody's mom read the worst book in America (smirking)... Of course I'm not going to ramble about bullshit, but I feel as though many people can relate to the lyrics, musicality and feelings that my songs evoke no matter their walk of life." From PB's depth as a musician to his electrifying stage presence, the smoothness of his voice and intricate acoustic guitar picking to his most self admired trait as a "visual lyricist" Peter Baldwin IS MUSIC. "I consider myself a writer man, I mean I can sing, but I take pride in the fact that I write my own experiences." Amazingly enough the 20 year old phenom has a character writing style filled with personable cinematic depictions far beyond his youth. PB's unique vocal approach and writing style allows for the generous meshing of such influences; soul, jazz, church gospel funk, alternative rock (indie), folk, hip hop and anything he deems worthy of inspiration, a creole like gumbo some refer to as "Alternative Soul". (See "Claustrophobic") "Music just gets in your skin man, like I should bump Eryka Badu all day and I don't, but just knowing about some of these people like Damien Rice, I love Feist, Amy Winehouse- their music and what they have to offer the world, I mean if your meant to do what they do then you just pick up all these aura's. Marvin Gaye, you should listen to him whenever you can, like ALL THE TIME. Music is like this thing where it consumes everything around it, it's what allows us to enjoy the human experience". 'If you're completely honest with yourself you would be surprised at how many people can identify with your music and you'll find that most people are just like you." Hailing from Anchorage, Alaska, Peter Baldwin has been a musician for as long as he can remember." "I learned music in the C.O.G.I.C. Church where I started out with a tambourine" (which occasionally accompanies his live performance to date). The singer-songwriter has come along way since, but staying grounded in his roots is nothing less than second nature. "I loved singing in church, but it was a church voice and of course there's nothing wrong with that, but I always knew there was much more personality in my voice than I was able to display". With his easy going temperament, disarming features and charismatic showmanship many are saying Peter Baldwin is destined for stardom flashing lights and all.
