Liberation Inc., the new release from Pale Fire Union, was created over a number of months at Cory Blackburn's Studio 301. With a new bag of K.'s songs, the players came together in the late autumn to begin sketching out what would become the pieces that appear on the record. There were the early sessions, the band connecting with each other for the first time, with stellar results. The tracking continued through the deep, dark winter. There was a break in production to write new material. As time passed, deep friendships grew deeper and new ones were forged. The songs got hotter and ideas were ripe. The sessions were consistently fertile. Winter passed into spring and summer and the madness continued. Into the fall, as the recording process neared it's end, K. and the musicians involved were aware that they had created something strange and wonderful. These tunes sound like the dark eyed child of vintage rock n' roll, old school hip hop and reggae, Americana and the longest shadow Motown ever cast, all locked into the deep groove of a 70's LP. From bare wire acoustic numbers to cry baby chaos, through all manner of misadventure in between, Liberation Inc., as a complete piece of music, defies classification. It is at once harrowing, beautiful, cathartic and insightful. K.'s vocal delivery and lyrics in these recordings dig into the human trip. Liberation Inc. Sees Pale Fire Union going deeper into the roots, rock and soul style, exploring sounds from the past and symptoms of the present to bring the listener a unique sonic experience.
