Burden of Sin
The Burden of Sin - Bio The Burden of Sin, the brand new CD by Cincinnati band Pain Link, breathes fresh air into the lungs of modern metal. With their latest release, the band has expanded the scope of metal sub-genres included on their previous self-titled demo. Drawing on both old school metal and modern metal-core influences, Pain Link bridges the gap between the classic thrashing riffs of yesteryear, and the abstract, innovative metal of today. From the opening track, The Burden of Sin is nothing you would expect. A sad and somber violin piece ('Choose Your Path') acts as the calm before the storm, leaving you wondering what will come next. What comes next is an all out metal assault from start to finish, relenting briefly for an extremely moving classical piano piece ('Tears of the Fallen Angel'), before the final track of moshpit inducing mania ('Distorted Perception') kicks in. Pain Link's confidence as songwriters and performers is evident by the use of classically influenced compositions to help set the heavy mood of this release. The musicianship is superb. From the full-blown thrash gallop of 'Moshpit Mafia' to the melodic groove and crushing breakdown of 'When Sand Turns To Glass', the latest Pain Link effort is an exuberant display of aggressive riffs, powerful two-part vocals, pounding drums and bass, and over the top guitar solos that define the true essence of this hard working band. Pain Link is an extremely unique mixture of musical brains and brawn fused together to forge an aggressive yet artistic brand of heavy music that appeals to fans of all kinds of heavy music. Together, this group of seasoned players is a winning combination of metal craftsmen dedicated to creating something different than the modern norms. The solid arrangements, the cerebral messages, and the crafty guitar work within the tracks of The Burden of Sin speak volumes for the musical maturity of this group of musicians. Pain Link is comprised of the following individuals: Brandon Neeley - Vocals Chris Brown - Guitar, Vocals Greg Neeley - Guitar Paul Parece - Bass Dave Bauer - Drums.
