Persona Non Grata
PERSONA NON GRATA is the sixth album from Tulsa, Oklahoma's Nude Furniture, and the first since 2007's THE SIGNATURE SOUND OF NUDE FURNITURE. For the first time ever, Furniture mainman Neil Dirickson stepped out of the bedroom and recorded at a professional facility...the aptly-named The Studio in downtown Springfield, Missouri. Lou Whitney, owner of The Studio and bassist for Ozark legends the Skeletons, helmed the recordings over a nine-month stretch in 2009. As in the past, Dirickson plays many of the instruments on the record, but this time he's called upon some of his musical friends and associates from Springfield to play as well...namely Bobby Lloyd Hicks (drums, backup vocals), Stevie Newman (guitar) and Joe Terry (keyboards) add their own special touches to the proceedings. Boasting cover art by yet another Springfieldian Jason East (the Lightning Bugs), PERSONA NON GRATA is a real corker. What you have is 10 concise songs absolutely crackling with all that's great about rock n' roll...heart, soul and just a little bit of recklessness.
