At 24 years old, Nodd Morris is only now hitting puberty. His voice is coming into it's own and he grows in unpredictable spurts. The hair on his upper lip is beginning to darken and he's sometimes made fun of for being the biggest kid in his class. While performing his music, his confidence has worked it's way up making him move to his music like Dave Matthews; only with a bit more rhythm, like a charmed cobra. While several descriptions of his music have been tolerated, the one that stands out in the author's mind is "Coldplay makes love to Beck while Jack Johnson videotapes." Morris's influences, which he insists range from "The Beatles, to Beck, to Radiohead and everything in between. But nothing outside of that," can be heard throughout his albums and seen in his live performances. He may have on a clever grin like John, a spazmatic twitch like Yorke, or a zombie beat-driven march like Beck at any given moment. Based in State College, PA, Morris will be finishing up his 7 year academic career at Penn State University where his degree in Economics, with a minor in International Business, will catapult his capacity to write amazing songs about topics completely irrelevant to his studies. However, Nodd Morris hasn't gained all of his wisdom from Penn State. He took a semester abroad in jail after researching the effects of the supply and demand of drugs in the State College area. This 6 month excursion would be the turning point of his musical career as well when he vowed to "never waste [his] time like [that] again". With a prior study abroad in rehab, Nodd Morris had all the tools to become the sagacious pupil he is now. He's recorded with producers Marc Frigo (Indigo Girls) and Jimmy Parr (Carly Simon), as well as having Mark Levesque (David Bowie, Seven Mary Three) lay down drums for his debut album "Burning Bridges" (recorded with Parr) which came out in 2007. Morris's sophomore follow-up "The Movie" (Frigo) is set for release on May 20th, 2009 and is highly anticipated among the cafeteria ladies in the Penn State west dining hall.
