Live at Reeltime
Welcome to the genetically modified rock sound of Scottish band Nobody Else, created as a vehicle for the music of songwriting team Annette and Callum Chapman. Their songs have a melodic quality while still being hard hitting and energetic. Annette and Callum Chapman formed the band Nobody Else in 2008 as a vehicle for their songs. Callum had been writing on his own for many years but it was only when teaming up with Annette that the songs began to take on the distinctive sound that they exhibit now. Callum's music has always been unashamedly steeped in the Blues and this is still evident but the music being written now is absolutely Rock. Annette's melodies are influenced by her classical singing training and her ability to use an extensive vocal range to bring the songs to life. Add to this, lyrics which resonate with an audience on a personal level, and you have songs that offer something a little different. The building blocks of their music are far from unique but the structure created is interesting and greater than the sum of it's parts. Working with the young, energetic and talented musicians, Calum Gardner on drums and Scott Waterson on Bass, the band have settled into a combo which is musically impressive. Live, Annette and the band deliver these songs with verve, energy, enthusiasm and a real love of performing. Their music is played, in the words of a fan,'from the heart and with an edge' A recent review of a live concert during Edinburgh's famous fringe festival sums up the experience of seeing and hearing the band live: "Youth is wasted on the young", sings Annette Chapman, encapsulating how I felt watching her band perform. With a deceiving rock aesthetic, Nobody Else have the energy, talent and soul of any band twenty years their junior. Describing their rock and blues songs as melodic while still hard hitting, Nobody Else merge a variety of genres from their wide ranging musical influences with thought provoking, well-penned lyrics to produce songs surprisingly moving and inspirational. As they put their heart into their performance at the packed Wee Red Bar, I have never seen an Edinburgh crowd let their hair down so readily. If star ratings reflect the enjoyment of the audience and the passion of the performers, then Nobody Else get 5 stars. - Alice Kelpie - 3 weeks official fringe review, 2009 The band were determined to capture this experience as closely as they could n this live EP. The six songs were recorded in one three hour session and the vocals done in one take; No tweaking, no polishing. This is it and we really hope you like it.
