'Phobialairs' was written during late 2003. Like the melody and structure of The Cure, mixed with the dynamics of A Perfect Circle, and the sound design of The Secret Machines. 'The Guessing Game' was written in mid 2008. It brings a lot of new energy into the mix. Some liken to Muse-like riff rock, some to classic rock like Rush, or guitar paint-thrown at the canvas like The Mars Volta. Whatever it is, it rawks. 'Risque or Gambit (whichever you prefer)' was written partially in 2003, and partially in 2008. It brings the energy, and song structure that Nine Even has always displayed, while also showing the twists and turns the band likes to spice it up with. '29' was written in 2002, and was 1 of the original Nine Even songs, originally as an acoustic song. Hear it here in the 'Nine Even' version, recalling all the band's personal favorite sounds. The title HELM is supposed to represent taking the helm of a ship, or to further the metaphor, take the steering wheel.
