Nikola is a songwriter from Vancouver. He was born in Yugoslavia and spent his childhood in the mountains of Turkey. Nikola first started playing music in a high school alternative cover band back in Belgrade. On the rhythm guitar and vocals he played everything from the hard rock of Led Zeppelin, grunge of Pearl Jam and metal music of Iron Maiden and Metallica. University brought him to Vancouver, Canada. Here, the live performance changed to an acoustic duo, performed with his twin brother Ivan, covering songs in harmonized vocals by Simon and Garfunkel and guitar duos of Jazz Standards, gipsy music and Strunz and Farah. Around this time Nikola learned to play piano and explored composition and improvisation. The first songs he wrote were about his friends back home in Belgrade. After graduation Nikola decided to further explore his creative side with acting, solo music performances and writing. He currently still resides in Vancouver, and draws on the diverse musical experiences of the three different countries in which he has lived to create his unique sound. Nikola's main focus right now is live performance! He loves the spontaneity of the stage and his shows are highly energetic, drawing a loyal and expanding fan base.
