Nicolas Johansen is a singer/songwriter and multi instrumentalist from Ottawa Canada. Nicolas played all the instruments on the record (except drums) and co-wrote all the songs. Nicolas is a passionate and prolific songwriter, and his honest and emotional songs are a mix of retro and modern influenced pop. Nicolas was born in St-Petersburg, Russia where he lived with his family before relocating to Canada. Nicolas has been writing and performing live since an early age. He grew up to the sounds of the 70s which were always around at his parents home, and used to fall asleep to his mother playing Beatles songs on piano. Everyone in his family is very musical and Nick himself started playing piano and singing at a very young age, and by the age of 12 he picked up his first guitar and quickly found local musician buddies to play music with. In the summer time they'd play outside in courtyards, parks, and small crowds of friends and random listeners. 'This is when it all started, cause we were having so much fun doing it' - remembers Nick. Inspired by Bob Marley, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin', Elton John and various R&B acts, Nick started writing his first songs when he entered High School. There he met his first band mates and they started out playing local clubs causing a buzz in their hometown of Ottawa. At the very same time Nicolas was taking piano and music theory lessons and went up to grade 10 with the Royal Conservatory of Music in Ottawa. By his last year in High School, Nicolas established him self as a solid performer and songwriter and attracted attention of producer Leslie Howe whose credits include Artificial Joy Club and Alanis Morissette. Nicolas and Leslie began collaborating on songwriting and recording at Leslie's studio in Los Angeles. 'It was an amazing experience, and it was a really inspired, focused, creative and intense time for me.' - remembers Nicolas. With the album complete, Nicolas is focusing on what he loves most, playing shows where ever and when ever he can.
