Nicholas Deutsch is a 23 year old singer/songwriter originally from wilmette, Illinois. After graduating from NYU with a degree in music business/education he spent 2009 teaching private piano and voice in the northern Chicago suburbs to self-finance his first album. Growing up, Nick spent most of his time either on stage or in practice rooms, developing a love for music and performance. With a teaching pianist in the house, all types of music were quickly nutured from a young age. After 12 years of Classical Piano with the Music Institute of Chicago, he was driven by a desire to compose and in high school began studying jazz under the direction of Alan Swain with Swain Studios. With a mission to study as many different genre's of music as possible, he was active in jazz band, swing choir and the American College Of Musicians national piano-playing auditions. In 2001, he began looking for his own vocal sound under the encouragement of Northwestern University's Vocal teacher, Melissa Foster. With a heart firmly located in Popular Music, he completed several demo's during this period, one of which landed on BuzzLighter Issue 15, a national independent distributor of unknown acts. Upon moving to New York and successfully graduating from NYU he became active in the New York Songwriter's Circle where he studied under Director Tina Shafer. Fly, produced by Glenn Barratt is his first fully produced EP and features 5 original songs detailing love, loss and the journey of growing up.
