Kevin N. Power Irish Examiner - Live Review (Classical) Cork International Choral Festival - 2nd May 2012, City Hall, Cork Orchestra of St Cecilia, Conductor John Dexter Trumpeter, Niall O'Sullivan's account of Handel's Suite in D was bright, breezy, delicate, joyous and stylish and the orchestral accompaniment was equally neat. Declan Townsend Irish Edition - Album Review Niall O'Sullivan (Independent) Trumpet didn't mean much to me before I arrived in the South West and discovered Mexican music. Now I can't get enough of it in all styles and I can't understand how I never heard the beauty and purity of the instrument. Niall O'Sullivan is a fine exponent, drawing in so much emotion as he plays - I almost said 'sings', because that is the effect of what he does. How could an album that opens with 'Moon River' not succeed? The 10 tracks feature other classics, such as 'Autumn Leaves,' delves into Irish music with 'Carrickfergus' and 'Raglan Road,' performs a beautiful version of 'Ave Maria' and creates a tremendous interpretation of Astor Piazzolla's 'Libertango'. If you're in the mood for something just a little different, I can think of nothing better that this - be transported with his lyrical playing, the rich sound of the ensemble playing with him and the vocals of Brian Gilligan and Stephanie McKeown. Jamie O'Brien (Irish Edition) April 2012 Quotes "Lovely sound, nice piece of work" Gay Byrne, Legendary Broadcaster. "Fabulous Album, fabulous playing, quiet fantastic" Marty Whelan, RTE Lyric Fm. "Absolutely stunning" Gerry Kelly, BBC Radio. ' Niall's playing is world class. His Version of 'The Blower's Daughter' is inspired and achingly beautiful. He deserves an international stage.' Brian Kennedy, Singer/Songwriter.
