4: White Walls
This Album is a far cry from anything previously released. The First 3 Releases were filled with deep electronic/acid ambient sounds that featured not one song with vocals. The New Album features vocals on 10 of it's 14 tracks and are mainly Guitar based/RiffSSS, but with a NEWAGE STYLE. There are still a few mindMelter Electronic tracks that find their way in the mix. Released June 2005. A one-generator of noise, grooves, and moods created on Guitar, Vocals, drum machines, synths, old cassette walkmans, samplers, mini-discs and other assorted noise makers. Newagehillbilly played more 'traditional rock' music in bands like Operation Huss and Charcoal in the late nineties. Mainly playing bass and Guitar. Other bands followed and Newagehillbilly began to explore new sounds and experimentation such as Rot Guts and Pillage of the Glass City. As a solo project and performer different levels are searched for musically and sonically, usaully resulting in textural soundscapes that vary from relaxing to chaotic. Newagehillbilly has 3 offical releases. Lo-Fi Dreams was released in Jan. 2002 on MT6 Records and was a collection of recordings between 1997 and 2001. Driving on Ice was released in Aug. 2002 as a split between MT6 Records and NJ based Underground Label Night Raider Mortar Squad Records. NRMS was involved with the release for a few months, but the label ended up closing shop shortly after the release. Supple Records released 'Supple Selections' in July of 2003 and included the tracks 'Scope' and 'Complete Trip Out (Short Club Mix)' which were originally on 'Driving On Ice'. Also, in 2003, the label 1001+1 Tilt which is based out of Athens Greece included the track 'Upstart' which was also originally on 'Driving on Ice' on the Various Artists Compilation. Newagehillbilly's 3rd release 'Familiar Puzzle' came out in Jan. 2004 and increases the odds with this album of Experimental dark hymns. Various tracks were used for the soundtrack to the Short Film SoundsScapes by Benni D. The Movie was shown at The Charles Theatre in Baltimore Md. As part of the 2003 Maryland Film Festival. Newagehillbilly is Baltimore based and has performed with a wide range of bands/projects including King Missile III, Drums and Tuba, Brian Jonestown Massacre, Cotton Casino (member of Acid Mothers Temple), Bob Log III Jason Anderson(K Records), The High Strung, Cho Experiment, and many others. ============= ============= =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= From FISHCOMCOLLECTIVE.NET Newagehillbilly 'IV: White Walls' Alternative rock. Punk. Electronic etherea. All wrapped up together and served up underground and pretty darn experimental. Eclecticism embodied in a compact disc. Go from trippy, ambient stretches of experimental electronica to raving guitar punk assaults with yelled lyrics. Electronica fades into elongated guitar solos equally as trippy. Psychedelic even. Detours into dark, spacey synthpop/EBM/electro. Or there's the buzzier and simultaneously retro variety of electrorock. Anyway, you see how much territory on the map this sucker covers. Eclectics will remain stimulated from beginning to end. Those desiring stylistic consistency will find something on here to piss them off. An accomplishment either way, I'd say. Good and weird.
