The NEW EARTH BAND is comprised of active, committed Christians from Southeastern Pennsylvania. We genuinely enjoy sharing in song and testimony the Good News of the Gospel and the soon return of The Lord. Our good-time music is a loose and easy, down-home blend of Country Gospel and Rockabilly, with an occasional smattering of Traditional Country and a pinch of Southern Gospel. NEW EARTH BAND members on the 'Gospel Truth' project are: Lee 'Little Buford' Schappell, guitar, bass and vocals; Marvelous Markie Miller, guitar, Dobro and vocals, Rick 'Slim' Guinan, harmonica, and Warren 'Mose' Boyer, fiddle. Bassist Joel 'J-Zar' Zarska did not play on this album, although he still appears with the band at our live events. The individual members come from extensive, varied musical backgrounds and experience. Both Rick and Joel have played in blues bands, while Mark has forever been rooted in traditional country and bluegrass. Lee is an old rock'n'roller with a heart for the raw, rock-a-billy and country roots of the 1950's, and had a brief 'cup of coffee' with Cameo Records as LeRoy & His Rockin' Fellers. Mose's foundation is built on rock'n'roll and country. His primary claim to fame is his pop band, 'The Cadillacs', during the era of Wellers Tavern and the classy Dolphin Lounge. When these influences are carefully blended together and brought to a low simmer, they form the nucleus and foundation for the unique sound that defines The NEW EARTH BAND. The bluesy-shuffle title track, 'Gospel Truth' features some nifty Dobro work from Markie and Rick's incisive harp licks, while 'The Jubilee' is an all-out, heavenly head-banger's hoe-down. The smooth 'That's Just Not the Gospel' is based on Galatians 1:6-9, and 'Till the Cows Come Home' poses a gaggle of silly, unanswerable questions, then shoots you in the heart. 'Little Sack of Dirt' is a driving country blues piece that reminds us of our mortality and humble origins, and that Jesus became one like us - one OF us. 'I Love to Tell the Story' will take you directly back to your favorite Sunday School class, and 'The Code' is a hopping-good, much needed, long-overdue spanking! 'No, Not One' comes straight out of a time-worn 1895 hymnal. The old Gospel favorite 'Nothing But the Blood' is so simple in structure, yet so profound in it's pure Gospel message. 'Tell Me the Story of Jesus' is as Country as corn, and covers the entire life of Christ from birth to resurrection, in just three verses! Now, listen to Markie's slick Dobro and the raw, earthy fiddle work of Mose Boyer in 'Rock of Ages'. The project concludes with the strong drive of the anthem-like 'Stand Tall', encouraging the faithful to hold the course and stand firmly on the Word till the Master returns. If you like 'Gospel Truth', you should give an honest listen to our first CD, self-titled simply 'The New Earth Band', also available here on CD Baby. The NEW EARTH BAND performs for church functions, from a full concert to a music night, a youth gathering, a seniors group, to special music for the worship hour. We also play at residential facilities, in coffee house settings, community center and outdoor events, and have played three concerts in prison to date. We sincerely hope you enjoy - AND DECIDE TO PURCHASE !! - our music, and are lifted up by the message God has entrusted to us. We'll be looking for you in the Earth Made New - coming soon!
