I'd Do It Like That
My name is Jeff Oxford and I am currently a songwriter with a day job. Although my regular job pays the bills, my vision is to write a hit song that gets cut by a major artist, then is sung along with by thousands of fans during a concert that I am at. My new CD, "Neon Graffiti - I'd Do It Like That!" is a step along that journey, and was created as a credential to begin showcasing some of my songs. After many years in hibernation, my passion for music and songwriting reemerged in the last 5 years. At one point I discovered I had a knack for writing music to other people's lyrics. Since that epiphany I have co-written over 120 songs with talented lyricists from around the globe, including: • Andy Furlong from Ontario • Robert George from Arizona • Graham Henderson from Australia • Tim Perry, Clayton Sawyer, Frank Herman, and Mark Aldrich from right here in Michigan Since 2004 Tim Perry and I have run the Grand Rapids Songwriter Alliance, continuing the group started by the wonderful local songwriter and artist, Lucy Webster. I also am an active member of the Nashville Songwriters Alliance International (NSAI), and post songs in progress on Songramp.com to get ideas and feedback on new material. In 2004 I rounded up some friends and put together a band called Neon Graffiti. The band includes Mark Aldrich on bass, Bruce Armstrong on keys, John Artz on drums, and Keith Hosner on guitar. We have a great time playing an occasional gig, but otherwise spend our time in the studio, working up arrangements on new songs, or just jamming. We already have material selected for the next CD and will start tracking soon. "I'd Do It Like That" was recorded, mixed, and mastered by my good friend John Hoekstra. I really cannot express enough gratitude to John, without whom this CD would not have been possible. John is an outstanding audio engineer obsessed with creating the best artistic and sonic product possible.
