Pas de Deux
The Dallas Voice, Dallas, TX '.....Like Etheridge or Bon Jovi for that matter she has a hard-edged but melodic-lyrical thread and a confessional, out-and-proud attitude that immediately pegs her as true indie-rock.....' With an intense presence and the spirit of a Phoenix, Nels is a powerhouse of a performer and musician, and she has the pipes, songs, drive, and passion to prove it. As a hybrid offspring, Nels sings the anthems of the 80s, plays the angst of the 90s, and performs with an attitude all of her own, creating a new version of rock that transcends most genres while staying true to her core. Compared to Melissa Etheridge, Steve Perry, and Pat Benatar, Nels rocks like no other. Out and loud, Nels is becoming a mainstay performer in the LGBT community nationwide. Currently on the road, she is playing in more than 35 cities promoting her first full-length solo release, Pas de Deux. In 2006, Nels embedded herself in the lesbian community by playing in 15+ cities nationwide at LGBT venues and events, including placement as a featured artist on the Olivia Company's November 2006 Hawaii cruise. She landed local and regional press in nearly every city entered and rocked her audiences with her powerful live show. In addition to her 2006 success, Nels has appeared on the nationally televised program 'Showtime at the Apollo' in the world-famous Apollo Theatre, sold songs to Walt Disney, and has worked with producers for Brittany Spears, Duran Duran, and Violator Records.
