Neil Harpe is based in Annapolis, Maryland. He\'s been playing fingerstyle country blues and ragtime guitar since the 1960s. Harpe produced an album of country blues on the Adelphi Records label back in 1971. Today, he divides his time between performing acoustic blues, collecting and selling vintage guitars (primarily Stellas from the 1920 & \'30s), and his \'day job\' as a painter/printmaker. Neil was first introduced to country blues in 1962, at the tender age of 16, by several charter members of the Blues Mafia...Max Ochs, Tom \'Fang\' Hoskins and Mike Stewart AKA \'Backwards Sam Firk\'. It was Firk\'s playing that served as a model for Neil\'s approach to the music. Other influences include Charley Patton, John Hurt, Willie McTell, Memphis Minnie and Blind Blake...to mention but a few.
