Playing music it describes as Klamath mountain soul, the far Northern California Muletown String Band has captured an exuberant following on the strength of it's live shows since forming in the Spring of 2010. The band blends traditional bluegrass instruments (mandolin, guitar, banjo, fiddle, upright bass) with not-so traditional percussion (cajon and djembe). Each member of Muletown contributes to the band's plush vocal harmonies. All six members have written at least one tune on the group's self-titled debut release. Individually and collectively Muletown's members have shared the stage or performed with the likes of Dave Alvin and the Guilty Women, The Infamous Stringdusters, Tom Rigney and Flambeau, Blaw Blaw Woof Woof, Incendio and Merle Haggard's Strangers. The band includes Morgan Hannaford (mandolin), Jim Dyar (guitar), Paul Calkins (banjo), Torri Pratt (vocals), Tracy Manuel (percussion) and Clay Harvey (upright bass). The album features guest fiddlers Scott Joss (Merle Haggard/Dwight Yoakam) and Kate Busey.
