Super Sonic Boom
MR. KRISTOPHER Mr. Kristopher's hip-hop new wave jazz music is a sonic blast of energy that jogs emotions like a mental workout. His loud and abrasive tantrums delve deep in the mind through clever and almost comical hooks. As a drummer first and a producer / vocalist next, Mr. Kristopher (Mr. K) takes self containment musicianship to the next level Based in Los Angeles by way of hometown Indianapolis, Mr. Kristopher dramatically incorporates elements of theater and music through sung speeches, dance, drums and synthesizers. Mr. K grew up in a musical family. 'My dad is a jazz aficionado while my mom is all into opera, classical and choral music'. With his classical and jazz trained background and his own tastes for rap and new wave, Mr. K incorporates an eclectic arrangement of songs featuring symphonic synths, big beats and ball busting melodies. As a boy, Kristopher studied piano and percussion. As a teenager, he played drums in church, high school and in his father's jazz band. Soon, Kristopher began writing his own music after attending a Public Enemy and Prince concert. To his father's dismay, Mr. Kristopher gradually gravitated towards rap and new wave music and continued to combine these genres to jazz. 'Making music is like cooking food to me. You can't rush great taste. There must be a recipe. You need ingredients (different musical styles), utensils (instruments) and an oven (studio). The taste is the sound. Some songs I produce are mild, but most of my songs are hot, tangy and spicy. That flavor came after marinating the ingredients for years'. - Mr. K In the early nineties, Mr. Kristopher moved to Los Angeles and became the first man of color to earn a Bachelors Degree in Music Industry from California State University Northridge. There he acted in school and community theatre plays, musicals and student films. He later interned at the world's largest music company where he became the 'coffee bitch' to many superstar artists and music industry moguls. 'I interned at a couple of major labels and got some administration jobs, made mistakes and absorbed the business. I developed relationships while floating around in different departments. I got canned after I rebelled against the way the music corporations were handling the consumer and the internet. Yea I choose to be on the side of the underdogs, sentenced to corporate exile'. Mr. Kristopher has created music for television and other artists in the music industry. He is currently in the studio working on his second album and producing various projects for many clients. His music is dramatic, shocking and scandalous. While listening, you get the impression you're marching to the beat of a different drummer.
