Dancing with Sally Goodin
'In my estimation the Mountain Park Old-Time Band is the best new Old-Time band on the scene. Their exuberant live presentation, rich and flavorful song bag, and their honed and tested talent on their instruments make the band a favorite on air and stage. To be such old veterans of the music they have a fresh new sound- an ancient traditional recipe, but hot out of the oven! I'm pleased to consider myself a fan of the Mountain Park Old-Time Band, and it's members my friends. It has been my privilege to play their recordings over WPAQ, am 740 in Mt. Airy, and to introduce them from the WPAQ stage at the Autumn Leaves Festival. What amazes me is their ability to capture within the walls of a studio the excitement of their live performances, and their ability to bring the discipline and quality of the studio to a stage- no easy task! I've told friends unfamiliar with Old-Time music that you have to see it, not just hear it, to truly get it. Instrument interaction, the intense countenances and swaying movements of the musicians, and the tap and bounce of the seemingly disjointed flatfoot dancers make Old-Time music a feast for the eyes and ears. Though there's no video with this audio, hearing this recording by the Mountain Park Old-Time Band will help you see what I mean...' Brent Carrick, Host of the Blue Ridge Spotlight on WPAQ.
