Sundays & Sadder Days
Formed in August of 2004, Military Junior is a St. Petersburg, FL based "alternative rock" band, sometimes also classified as "math-rock." Over the past 15 years, the members of this band have pounded the local music scene with enthusiasm and moderate success. After a few years of mixing and matching members in various bands, frontman Jason Schultz approached long-time friends Eric Glinsboeckel and Bryce Munger with a few song ideas which immediately caught everyone's attention. After a few rehearsals it became clear that this trio could work together perfectly in song writing, composing and playing. Military Junior 's debut CD "When You Get Lost On Those Brick Streets" contains a masterful set of songs, including signature songs such as "Authority" and "Test of Time" which were written in non-traditional time signatures. In addition to such signature songs, this album represents a mix of fast and powerful as well as slow and dynamic songs. In order to set them apart from the mainstream, this band strives to achieve one primary goal: diversity. The debut CD has been in strong rotation on Indie radio stations KEXP out of Seattle and SOMA FM's Indie Pop Rocks out of San Francisco. Additionally, the band is featured on websites such as GARAGEBAND.COM, INDIEREVIEW.NET and iSOUND.COM and the band was featured as one of May's Top 10 newest Indie bands on unsignedmusicmagazine.com. Their second CD "Sundays and Sadder Days" is a slight transgression from the band's original sound and incorporates dreamy instrumentals, fast, driving rock songs and melodic mid-tempo tunes - something for everyone for sure. Although less focused on the math rock aspect, the technical abilities of each player still sound through each song on this new album, released in April 2011.
