New York indie-pop band, Mike Sandwich began as an experiment between long-time friends in early 2001. The group developed it's sound and style rooted in the D.I.Y approach: need rehearsal space? Build it; Want to play a major festival? Create one; need an album? Learn how, and produce one; And, most importantly, want to develop a distinct sound? Lock yourselves in a room for months until you find it. While they continually draw from their contemporaries for inspiration, bands like The Flaming Lips, Supergrass, The Pixies, Happy Mondays, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Stone Roses, and U2 have influenced their sound and defined for them what being a band is about.
