Mike Murphy has entertained audiences in Utah, Colorado, Texas and New Mexico since 1970. Mike was born in New Mexico but moved to Texas at a young age and started playing guitar when a friend taught him a few chords. Several years later, after a lot of practice and experience, Mike began to entertain around the local scene and started to write some of his first songs. In his college years he entertained at resorts in Colorado during the summer months where he met the girl of his dreams in 1971. After graduating from Texas Tech, Mike moved his family to Utah where he has taught school for 36 years. Mike's interest in guitar and songwriting grew to a full time business in 2007 when he opened his own store, Murphy's Guitars, in Bountiful, Utah. After two cassette albums in 1985 and 1987, Mike recorded his first CD in 1998, Standing at a Crossroads, and his second in 2000, Friends. Now, 10 years later, Mike has released his third collection of original songs, Boyhood Dreams. The last song on the album, This Guitar, epitomizes what Mike feels about his music when it says, 'it may not be a masterpiece, it may not hit the charts, but that doesn't really matter if it touches just one heart'. We're sure that your heart will be touched by many of the songs on Boyhood Dreams.
