Fool Me Once
Everybody has at least one song in them. I guess I'm no exception. I have always been moved by songs that tell a good story. I guess that's why I never decided to write seriously until a few years ago. After years on the road singing in bars and honky-tonks across the south, and a good bit of time doing the coffee house-folk thing, then more years as a boat captain working the oilfields in Africa, Peru, Mexico and a bunch of other places, it occurred to me that I have a few stories to share musically. The songs on Fool Me Once, my first album, are stories I've accumulated over time and about the kind of folks that I thought were worth a good yarn. Some of the characters Like Big Dumb Sam and Sweet Jake are fictional embellishments of real people. Talkin Cell Phone Blues comes pretty close to a true life experience and Lost Bayou is a pure folk tale (that I conjured up on a steamy Louisiana Saturday afternoon). The two inspirational songs I included in this CD are special to me so I thought I'd include them. Fool Me Once, the title song, is about an older guy who decides not to be played by a young chippie who thought she had him all wrapped up. You JustDon't Have a Clue tells a story of a young boy who sets out to make a name for himself with his guitar and a book of his own songs. If you're a kid and ready to hit the road and tear up the world, I hope you listen to this story first. Maybe what you hear will help you avoid getting blindsided by life. Like a lot of Indie artists, I play all the instruments and do all the vocals on the album. The genre is mixed; Blues, Country, Folk and Inspirational. Well, bein' new at this game, I don't have any cool articles or reviews about me to impress you with, (maybe that will change someday) so I'll just tell you: I put my heart into each of my songs. My picking comes from a place in my soul. My hope is to share it with as many people as I can. Hope you enjoy, Mike.
