Working My Way Up to You
Mike was born in 1961 in Camden, NJ. He moved to Maple Shade, NJ in 1974 where he began his musical venture at age 13. Mike studied voice and drums at the Haddonfield School of Creative and Performing Arts and later continued his vocal studies with Deb Chamberlin and Seth Riggs. Mike played drums and sang in many bands throughout high school; including one with Christian worship leader, Paul Baloche. Mike then attended Kean College where he majored in business finance and also continued musical studies. After college, Mike began the life of working a day job and playing music at night. Mike performed with local bands like Don't Call Me Francis and Johnny O & the Classic Dogs of Love over a 15 year period. During that time, Mike shared the stage with rock giants such as Kansas and Sammy Hagar. He also performed at numerous parties for Donald Trump. In 2001 Mike grew tired of the music business. He decided to concentrate solely on his day job where he is co-owner of a national mortgage company located in Mount Laurel, NJ. At that time, Mike sold all of his musical equipment and seemed to be finished with the music scene. He felt that it had just become another job and it gave him a very empty feeling. After being away from music for about 4 years, Mike began to "Google" old friends to see what they were up to. Mike got in touch with his old high school friend, Paul Baloche. He found that Paul had given his life to Christ and was a full-time worship leader at his church in Texas. Mike was raised Catholic and had never experienced this type of worship, but he felt the strong desire to be a part of it. Paul invited Mike to a concert he was doing at the church in their old neighborhood in NJ. At that concert things began to change for Mike. He felt true worship and praise to GOD like never before. After the show people were lining up to meet Paul and thank him for his gift of music. They were telling him how it helped them to feel closer to GOD. People who had lost children, were battling illness and had suffered greatly were thanking Paul because his music had gotten them through another day. They were finding strength from GOD through Paul's music. That moment was like a revelation for Mike. He was completely blown away by the honesty and open hearts of the people coming to meet Paul. After that amazing and humbling experience, Mike dove deeper into his faith and became a member of Fellowship Alliance Chapel in Medford, NJ where he attends services regularly. In June of 2006 Mike and his wife, Jennifer, both gave their lives to Christ. Mike has since bought all new musical equipment and set up a recording studio in his home. He has been writing and recording songs for the Lord. In Mike's words "I have learned that GOD has given everyone a special gift to use in HIS service. I felt like GOD was pointing at me and saying, We have work to do. You are not finished with music. There are people that need to be reached. "So I have dedicated my life to Christ as a faithful and humble servant. I will serve to the best of my ability and let His will be done."
