My second (#2), this disc was recorded mostly post-Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans, Louisiana where I found myself without a house and with 4 days per month of work in my day job as a Pathologist. Lots of time to introspect and of course, the first things I replaced were my musical lifelines and instruments! Some tunes were pre-K but the mini-apocalypse that visited Narlins seemed to shape the album. Lots of Detachment themes and redemption here. The blessing is that it opened my musical world even further, which has always been my passion. And, very importantly, I learned to survive on part-time medicine, which is the way I make my iiving today. The first 3 songs on the album chronicle my moving to Austin, Tx two years later, literally on my 40th birthday (u know that had to be a song ;)... Currently I am recording 52 new songs in 52 weeks for 2010! I live for music. This year will likely generate FOUR new discs of material! ...Thanks Katrina and to life's often misunderstood blessings. Enjoy! Mike PS...The perennial philosophy is all over this album. I take no credit. I have, at least to some degree, Let Go...
