7 new songs from this Bergen based duo Medi Farmani og Ole Andre Farstad on their second album Motreb. After their well received first album Amedei from a couple of years back, they continue their eclectic mix of musical styles and this time bringing along singers from Kenya and Mexico gives the new album an extra dimension. Medis persian vocals is still the main thread of the plot thru the album where producer, guitarist and multi-stringplayer Ole Andre Farstad has merged sounds from India, Spain, Marocco thru jazz and pop into a coherent whole that take you on a journey from the solemn to the energetic, with textures and timbres of exotic sounds always bringing to mind something familiar but still new. Drummer Snorre Bjerck and bassist Kjetil Dalland provide a steady groove thru the record that culminates in a version of the mexican son jarocho el Toro where madness is unleashed. In addition a whole bunch of guestmusicians from the UK to China is giving this record another international flavour. Also check out the band live on youtube where you find some songs from their release concert with a 9 piece bigband.
