Product notities

It all started in third grade when I realized that the kid I sat next to in band was far better at the trumpet than I was. So I quit. Two years later I got my first guitar. It was an all black, acoustic finger- buster. From there I moved on to the electric in junior high and began playing with my first band, the Deathsquad. We wrote a few tunes but mostly covered hardcore bands like Minor Threat, Agent Orange and Black Flag. Those were hard times for the folks and anyone else living within a ten mile radius. We were very loud and rough around the edges. This gave way to the Grateful Dead in late highschool and all the other great music that went along with them. I put the guitar down for most of it and picked up grass and other general vegetation. Towards the end of it I began playing bass and getting back involved. College struck, or actually the year I first left, and I became very inspired by a man I met in the hills of New Hampshire. He had played with Dylan and other contemporaries in the Greenwich Village days. That sort of started it all on a more serious note. I began writing songs and taking guitar playing further than I ever had before. Playing around Burlington, Vermont while attending UVM is where I really got my butt kicked into learning how to play and write. There was so much great music going on. I put together three bands that played around the state, Soup Can, The Turning Point and Whole In The Groove. I also performed solo and in a duo with Brian Steele. I studied with jazz virtuoso Paul Asbell who helped me gather some decent chops before returning to Maine. After graduating from the Burlington scene, I returned home to the coast of Maine in 1996 where I've been playing ever since. I recorded my first album, 'Goin' Back Home' in 1997 with the help of John Etnier at Studio Dual. I worked with some outstanding musicians and the album was met with great reviews from the press. The second album, 'Carpenter's Hands' was released in October of 1999 and moved from solo oriented songs to band arrangements. The album spawned the group Barlo Igns which played from early 1999 through the Spring of 2000. Since then, I have been working on a third full length recording 'For A Five' which should be out by winter of 2002. I've also been working with a new band featuring Matt Guite on drums and percussion and Tony Simmons on bass. As a trio, we have been performing new and old tunes and preparing for a fourth recording to begin in winter of 2002. I'm looking forward to completing the third and fourth album, taking over the world and retiring at the end of next year. That's the short version.
