Take Good Care
A passionate singer/songwriter, Boston-based Matt Koelsch ['kel-sh'] has built up a loyal fan base within the Northeast through stirring lyrics, percolating rhythms, and soaring vocals. His live shows generally consist of Koelsch on vocals and acoustic, backed by The Allies; bass, lead guitar, an accompanying drummer and a saxophone or fiddler player. With intimate venues and performances as the backdrop for Koelsch's debut EP/album, 'Take Good Care', his songs strike a chord with audience members as he draws upon the gains and losses experienced in his life for inspiration. Infectious melodies, thought provoking lyrics, and passionate delivery characterize Matt Koelsch, as he brings his own flavor to the Pop/Alternative-Rock genre. Boston Band Crush - Review of Vomperbach 'The Internet tells me that 'Vomperbach" is a river in Germany or Austria, and it doesn't really get into much more detail than that. Lucky for us, then, Matt Koelsch and The Allies are here to show us what it sounds like, if only to them. Koelsch's "Vomperbach" flows smoothly and briskly through the locks, occasionally slowing down to round a bend or splash a bit off the rocks. Koelsch's vocals guide the flow, and he is an able conductor. Koelsch's remarkable voice is capable of rich, thick lows as well as bright, clear highs. The melody of "Vomperbach" really allows him to stretch out the old vocal cords - it is a dynamic ride through the German (or Austrian) countryside over rocks, under passes and all over the place. The undercurrent of ringing, clean tone guitar pulls everything along towards some unseen rivermouth or waterfall.'
