Love Is a Garden
These are songs of love and lust, humor and hope, loss and resolve, set against a backdrop of jazz, blues and pop... timeless stories with a contemporary twist. They are songs of our time, performed by the artists who created them. Jody Shayne is a well known singer upstate NY. Her career began in Boston where she attended Berklee College of Music and sang in local clubs. After spending some time on the road, she settled in NYC where she appeared with many jazz artists, including Archie Shepp, Jimmy Garrison, Roswell Rudd, and Sheila Jordan. Shayne has performed in festivals including The Crystal City Jazz Festival; The Lake George Jazz Festival, (with The Paul Mastriani Trio); The Hamilton Hill Culturefest; and A Place for Jazz. She currently resides in the Capital District where her schedule includes clubs, concerts, writing and teaching. This is her third year teaching piano at The Hamilton Hill Arts Center, where she is coordinator of the music program. Paul Mastriani is also an active musician in the tri-city area of Albany, Schenectady and Troy, and now performs in the Sarasota and Tampa area as well. He has composed music for two musical reviews by The Schenectady Light Opera Company. Two of his bossa novas, 'Time' and 'Gotta Take Time' were performed in Carnegie Hall by the late Tony Zano. Mastriani and Shayne released their CD 'Love Is A Garden' in 1998. All of the songs are original, with Paul as composer and Jody as lyricist. 'I hope you will enjoy our CD and will be touched, amused, and swept along by our music. Happy Listening.' ...Paul.
