Hold on (Jesus Is Coming Your Way)
Mary Byrd Robinson was born in Tuscumbia, Alabama, but now resides in Florence, Alabama. Being the eighth of thirteen children, she began her singing career at the early age of seven at a small Pentecostal church near her home town. "We didn't have a steady pastor then, but we were under various leaders until 1969 when our church was established under the leadership of the late Bishop John W. Barber." Mary is still presently a member of Healing Fountain Church, in Sheffield, Al., where Bishop Thomas Owens is pastor. It was at Healing Fountain Church that Mary began to increase and develop her God- Given talent of singing, and that beautiful gift eventually opened up many singing opportunities for Mary, both within, and abroad.. As Mary grew older she began experiencing many ups and downs in her relationship with God, but in 1976, Mary recommitted herself to the Lord and began to seek him, and to walk closer with him more than ever before. It was from many of these experiences that God began to give Mary Byrd Robinson anointed songs to sing, and the blessing of knowledge and wisdom to expand her ministry. "In 1999, I answered the call of God and was ordained an associate minister in my church. Now I am not only ministering in song, but also ministering the preached word of God." Mary Byrd Robinson has been married for 38 years to her husband Herbert Robinson. They have four sons; Cedric, Arvin, Marlon, and Quinton of whom was my youngest who suffered many years of kidney disease, but finally went home to be with the Lord in 2004. "It was during those trying times that the Lord ministered to me more and more in songs." She was blessed to record with her church in the early 80'S, on an album in titled, "Praise God Anyhow." In 1994, Mary was blessed to record her first tape. However, with her son's health being her first priority, Mary decided to put her singing ministry on hold to care for him. In 2006, God opened another door for Mary Byrd Robinson to sing before Dr. Bobby Jones at the 'Power to End Stroke Convention', in St. Louis, Missouri. It was after that experience Mary began to fast and pray that the Lord would open more doors that would enable her to finish the work He has called and anointed her to do. "For it is my desire that this part of my ministry be fulfilled." Mary is blessed to see with her own eyes how God is taking her Ministry of Music to new heights and new depths in these last days. In June, 2009, Mary finished her CD titled, 'Hold On, Jesus Is Coming Your Way." She also had the privilege to sing in Hueytown, Alabama, as well as sing in Detroit, Michigan, before the Clark Sisters at a workshop and showcase. "You see, singing to me is not a career, it is a ministry that I live every day of my life. God has brought me through many obstacles, including stage three breast cancer. It is my desire to minister to the sick, the down- trodden and to those that have been broken and torn by life's circumstances. I must let them know that there is a better life available to them. Now I can say that I have peace knowing that I am walking in God's will and destiny for my life."
