One Magic Moment
Mark Zeus is an accomplished, veteran singer-songwriter, originally from Chicago IL, but now residing in Houston TX. One Magic Moment is his most recent solo effort. Originally conceived as a follow-up to Zeus' critically acclaimed solo acoustic album, Fine Wine, it took on a life of it's own during it's 2 1/2 years of production. For example: the song 'One God' is an anthem of unity and peace which continues the general thematic approach of the preceding album, whereas 'Hole' takes an angrier approach, as it somewhat humorously vilifies the waste disposal and hog industries, as well as our own wasteful habits. The uplifting mid-tempo ballad, 'Cried Enough' has spoken to a wide audience, evidenced by it's selection as Song of the Year by the Texas Music Academy. Themes here are all unique, however remain poignant. Several other Texas musicians also contributed to this effort, most notably his long-time, live performance partner and good friend, Kristen Jensen, who provided several violin and fiddle tracks, as well as the haunting harmony vocal on 'One God.' Although thought of as fitting nicely within the folk genre, you'll find this album to contain infusions of many styles and musical sensibilities: from the World beat of 'Hole' to the Rock groove of 'Takes a Lotta Love' to the simple, straight-forward acoustic guitar on 'Sarah Says.' There is diversity, yet a strong continuity, which is the signature sound and approach of the artist, Mark Zeus.
