Eyes of a Stranger
Eyes of a Stranger is a collection of original songs written by Malia Lee, MD. Malia shares her perspective from the front line of people's suffering from disease, hopelessness and despair. She provides a gentle and uplifting message that no matter what difficulty you might be facing hope is around the corner and that with faith and perseverance you may learn to overcome struggle and rise above hardship. She is compared by some to Eva Cassidy, Sarah McLachlan, and Joni Mitchell. Her compositions are masterfully performed and arranged by Dave Tucciarone who adds the perfect acoustic mix to color and compliment the depth of her songs. Malia offers a glimpse of personal struggle during periods in life when the absence of God is felt as a 'gaping hole in her heart' in 'the Devil is Knocking.' Her empathy for human frailty and offering of hope for 'broken people' is demonstrated in a tribute to Saint Damien and the people with Hansen's disease who were once cast out to the remote peninsula of Kalaupapa on the island of Moloka'i in Hawai'i. A provocative message is delivered in Born As Angels where Malia shares a conversation with a young girl about her decision to give her second baby up for adoption. The interaction makes her wonder, " What if we're all born as Angels Sent to Earth to live our lives and Every time we help a stranger We're learning how to fly?..." The message to all is LOVE--- LOVE yourself, heal the suffering, rise above struggle so that you can know your purpose and go out and heal the world.
