Serendipity played it's hand many times throughout our lives together including the introduction of our most talented producer Chris Birkett by our very dear friend - the incomparable Buffy Sainte-Marie. What a wonderful opportunity to have our first CD produced by the award-winning producer and artist, Chris Birkett who's client list includes artists like Buffy Saint-Marie and Sinead O'Connor. A very gracious thank you to you both for your inspiration, support and encouragement. We are happy to introduce ourselves and present our new album "Watercolor Dreams". We have been writing music together as husband and wife for the past twenty years. These songs come from our hearts and we feel were a gift given to us, to share with you now - they are a direct reflection of how we live in and look at the world. We celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary in December 2009 and our lives together has been a defining influence on the style of our music. Blessed to have been able to be together almost 24/7 over those twenty years, we know each other very well and have an abiding trust for each other - which has been a valuable tool in songwriting. Writing music together is like dancing together - we let the music take us on a lovely journey and well, it is a very magical process. The instrumentals on the album are performed by some old and new friends; all incredibly talented local Kauai musicians. We recorded in our home studio (Raku Music) here on the island of Kauai in the town of Kalaheo. The final mixes were done in Chris Birkett's Paris studio along with the recording of drums and cello by musician's living in Paris. With broadband access and file sharing over the Internet this now, international music project was realized - Paris, France to Kauai, Hawaii and back again. How to describe our music? When asked what genre we write in, it is probably easier to describe what it is not than what it is. And that's okay with us, we have always felt most comfortable being a bit outside of the box. We write when the music comes - sometimes music comes first, sometimes lyrics - it is always a surprise and a gift. Chris suggested that this album would fit easily into the "Progressive Folk Rock" genre - so we will be happy to have "Watercolor Dreams" carry that label or any other that it finds it's way to. It is our hope that in "Watercolor Dreams", you will find some of the same joy and magic that we had in writing and performing these songs for you. Mahalo (Thank you) and Aloha, Lynn and Thayne Taylor.
