Left One Alone
Lead by Salem State University professor Todd Clancy, on his 8-string guitar - an instrument that let's him play bass and guitar at the same time. The instrument runs in stereo, giving him the ability to separate the bass and guitar, and let's him get a wide variety of sounds - from hammond B3 and funked-out wah, to more traditional guitar sounds. Listeners frequently do a double take thinking that something must be pre-recorded. Lux utilization of two saxophones is also very rare. With the lyrical lines of Jared Holaday on tenor and Amy McGlothlin (also an SSU faculty member) on alto with her powerful runs, the two create a sound that can be as round and warm as it can be big and fat and funky! Lux is rounded out by PJ Holaday on drums (Jareds younger brother - their dad is Joe Holaday, well known bass player for the Fools and Beatlejuice) PJ possesses the rhythmic sophistication of someone twice his age, and his absolute love of music is infectious and a show in and of itself!!
