Luther Badman Keith has taken an unusual route to the blues. A professional journalist for most of his life, he did not take up the guitar until he was past 30 years of age and did not play his first professional gig until he was well into his 40s. He has established himself as a creative songwriter with lyrics that can be happy, sad, funny or serious. His music is mixture of styles and elements, with rock, soul, funk and even Latin grooves running through his compositions. People often tell Keith they don't like blues but they like the way Keith presents the genre because it is different from what they expect -- and it is fun. Keith has won awards for his songwriting and performing and even had one of his songs featured in a major advertising campaing by Captain Ds Seafood Kitchen restaurant chain. He has performed in Belgium, playing in Brussells and Antwerp, performed at the International Blues Challenge and also has been on stage with Morgan Freeman in attendace at the actor's blues club in Memphis. Keith was inspired to take up the guitar after seeing the late Luther Allison perform. He later sat in with Allison and his band in Detroit. His first CD, Badman, is dedicated to Allison.
