Talk Is Cheapshouting's Louder
'Talk is cheap, shouting's, louder' is a solo album in every sense of the word. Created, written, performed, and produced entirely by London based singer song writer 'Little Emperor'. Initially 'Little Emperor' started recording the album as an exercise to catalogue the many tunes he had written for his live solo shows and for bands such as 'Naked Ape' and 'Nemo'. As the project developed it became apparent that the resulting recording would not sound anything like the usual solo singer songwriter albums we had come to expect. Instead with it's soulful impassioned vocal performances, it's banks of lush string arrangements, horn sections, blistering guitars and full complex choral harmonies, it ended up more like an offering from a band with huge label support and lineage like Pink Floyd or The Beach Boys. The resulting record is a testament to the talent and hard work of it's creator, who with virtually no budget and a tiny box room studio has produced a distinctly personal album of well crafted, meaningful songs with a truly original sound. The title 'Talk is cheap, shouting's louder' in part refers to the enormity of the process gone through in the realisation of the album and the dogged nature of it's creator. Preferring to get on with the job in hand rather than sit around talking about how things are going to be better, it's a kind of nod to those with a 'put up, or shut up' mentality. Across the album there is a sense of a genuine calling to arms and at the same time a farewell to apathy. Songs like 'On and On' reflect the frustration and folly of everyday living and a desire to break the humdrum cycle and simply enjoy life, no matter how many reasons we're given not to. A sentiment reflected in the ripping guitar driven powerhouse of 'Long Time Dead'. Three minutes of classic guitar song mastery, giving it to you in your ears about how much better off you are doing things (no matter how pointless) when you are alive that when you are dead.. A simple thought.. We all miss from time to time. This is an album that if listened to from beginning to end (as albums were intended to be) will take you on a captivating journey and deliver you right back to where you started from, leaving you with a feeling that you're not alone and just that little bit more prepared to get on with what's really important to you.
