Soulful Shabbat Ruach
This latest recording of music by Cantor Lisa Levine brings the core of Shabbat -- the entry of the spiritual at the end of the workweek -- and expresses it in a contemporary setting through arrangements that bring together voices, both young and old, with band backup. Many of Cantor Lisa's works are mainstays both at Jewish Congregations throughout North America and in Interfaith settings. The music reflects both old and new -- a Jewish essence as molded by contemporary reality. The combined choirs and choruses of Cantor Lisa's congregation, the DC Area's Temple Shalom, give depth and nuance to the arrangements. The songs capture the spirit of Shabbat as it lives today -- in a multicultural world. This music bubbles up like a sweet Sabbath cholent that warms from the inside out.
