Here's what Southern Gospel reviewers are saying about The Journey: 'The Journey proves that creative and progressive don't have to be synonyms in the Southern Gospel thesaurus. Instead of relying on soundtracks to create a fresh sound, Liberty does it with their vocal arrangements. This project easily earns Liberty Quartet another 5-star rating.' -Southern Gospel Blog (Liberty Quartet) turns out music that is just as high quality as any of your popular quartets, if not better at some points. This project is a good example of all of that. Nothing about it would give me any reason not to give this project a 5 star rating. The new songs are good, and the older songs that the group recorded here are as well. "He Came Down To My Level" is refreshingly different, and though "Welcome To Heaven" is pretty much like the original, it's just as well-done. Bottom line: Liberty Quartet may not gain the attention of groups such as Legacy Five or Triumphant, but their music puts them on par with any top quartet.' -Swain's Musings 'Liberty Quartet has produced a very fine album with The Journey. The group does a great job of selecting songs that fit their voices well. They have the creativity and ability to add a lot of variety to their recordings without pushing their vocal ranges out of their comfort zones. The tracks are all very well done, and the vocal performances are great. These guys know how to sing, and how to sing correctly. It continues to baffle me why they haven't been signed by a major label yet, they most certainly have the talent and creativity to be an asset to any label's roster. Jordan Cragun has fit in nicely with the group's sound, Royce Mitchell is an excellent bass singer, Dan Gilbert is a quintessential quartet lead, and Keith Waggoner has one of the finest tenor voices you'll ever find. This is a very good CD that you really need to check out. ' -Burke's Brainwork The Journey, Liberty's latest recording, is their most ambitious project to date. Produced by Doran Ritchey, Phil Cross, and Roger Talley, The Journey includes the songwriting talents of Doran Ritchey, Rodney Griffin, Phil Cross, Twila LaBar, and Jim Davis among others. The fresh, creative vocal arrangements of producer extraordinaire Phil Cross are in full display whether it be on a tender ballad or an aggressive, country tune. Featuring the fresh orchestrations by Marty Hamby, this CD will instantly become a favorite.
