Leon began gracing the audiences in song as a not so bashful four year songster growing up in Brooklyn New York, inclined to holding an imaginary microphone as he sang along with the radio. It was enough to inspire his mother (A superb songstress herself) to buy him a piano and later encourage him to join the junior gospel choir at their neighborhood church. Leon continued to develop in his career by performing at various venues in New York City such as; The Village Gate, Tattoo's, Lola's, and many other well known places in the city. He has had the privilege to lend his background vocals to add depth to such album tracks as; Gerald Austin's "Motown Christmas Special", and Rupaul's "Super Model of the World." His music has brought a melodious sound to the U.S. Virgin Island "Miss Black America Pageant." He has also heightened his dramatic skills on New York's theatrical scene in such plays as; " Let the music play," "Mama I wanna sing," "Time is running out," and " Hallelujah Revival." Armed with his sultry style and unique melodic expression that fascinates audiences, Leon is quite simply a living example of how faith can overcome insurmountable adversity and trial into a life of triumph. Leon King's musical style is best described as "Mellow & Smooth" when he wants to be, "Hyped & Funky" when he gotta be, it's a blend of R & B and Smooth Jazz with an injection of inspiration. This singer & songwriter's unique "from the center core" vocals, goes deep within and reaches the heart and soul of the listener lifting them to a higher dimension with undeniable clarity. His debut CD is comprised of a diverse collection of songs; from a Jazzy/Neo-Soul flavor, to a driving rhythmic beat that makes you feel good inside, dipping into R & B "Love" ballads that soothe the soul. Believing that he was born to communicate healing and life through his musical expression, Leon has finally fulfilled his long-lived dream to stand on his own two feet, singing his own songs. As such, he has achieved the freedom to realize the dreams and visions that God has given him. However, he still approaches his music with the same hard work, determination and purpose that's driven him to what he sees now as both a wonderful ending and exciting new beginning.
