Recorded Live at 7 South Recording, Santa Barbara, CA by Paull E. Rubin on July 11, 2007. Mastered by Stephen G. Powell Richard LeGrand: tenor banjo Paull E. Rubin: dobro/slide guitar Robert Perales: ukelele, guitar Frank Franks: guitar Armand Renga: string bass Ralph Whitney: washboard, percussion Hanna: vocals note from the producer: I played 80 3 hour long shows with banjo master, Richard LeGrand and the band, mostly at the James Joyce Irish Pub on State St. In Santa Barbara, during the Tuesday afternoon Farmer's Market held outside on the blocked off downtown streets. I worked for peanuts, tips and free Guinness. I mainly did this because my Dad, Stan & Grandpa, Leo A. Rubin played all these songs on the banjo-mandolin and I wanted the experience of studying under an astute master like Mr. LeGrand. Dick, the 'Old Smoothie' as he's known won the 1984 National Banjo Open, and performed for both Presidents Franklin D. Roosevelt, and Ronald Reagan. A special thanks goes out to Blandine, (Mrs. LeGrand) who I wish had recorded her guitar here too, but thanks for getting him there and back! Thanks also to Margaret, Cory, Ann-Marie and all the loyal fans who came week after week to support great ragtime jazz, and music from The American Songbook.. Paull E. Rubin.
