Ballads & Interludes
These are original jazz solo piano pieces that embrace the true depths of the heart. Each piece is an expressive soliloquy, intimate and lyrical in character. The music carries the listener into a kaleidoscope of emotion, spiraling slowly through the labyrinth of the soul. A unique palette rich with different colors of feelings sings through each piece. The compositions are ballads of a sophisticated style, always embracing an introspective, intense expression - each note is filled with meaning and importance. The music in this jazz album has strong classical influence, as I am a classically trained pianist. Here I have composed with a fusion of classical and jazz harmonies and rhythms. The Album was recorded in 1998 and written in 1996-1997. Influences for this album come from my musically diverse background of studies in piano, viola, organ, clarinet and oboe, playing in orchestras, jazz bands, marching bands and also as piano soloist, orchestral pianist, accompanist, organist, chamber pianist and playing in pop, jazz and classical styles. Presently I live in Palo Alto, California and continue to compose piano music as well as perform and teach. I have received advanced piano performance degrees from the University of Kansas and Post-Graduate studies from the Chopin Conservatory of Music in Warsaw, Poland. I presently reside in Palo Alto, California.
