Product notities

Larry Diehl A Well-Beaten Path, indeed.... Larry writes and sings songs about people, places and things - the proper nouns in his life. He is a wordsmith, a tunesmith, and a shameless voyeur of the details of the world around him. Larry often finds inspiration in the extraordinary ways ordinary people live their lives. From these sparks of inspiration, Larry crafts short stories, adds a little music, and creates a song. Now, with the release of Larry's debut solo album, "A Well-Beaten Path," Larry gives us a glimpse into 13 of these short stories. Some sweet and touching, as in the opening track, "SonFlower," about the day a new twig sprouted on a family tree. Other stories are more introspective and thought provoking, such as the hauntingly beautiful "You Are Here," about the importance of living in the moment. Still others take on more playful tones like "In My Next Life," where Larry calls upon his wit and wisdom to take a not-so-serious look at life outside the final box. Whatever emotions Larry Diehl's heartfelt songs evoke in others, it's clear he experienced them first somewhere along his well-beaten path. Bio The son of a roadhouse musician, Larry Diehl was born and raised in Mountain View California. He began his musical journey at the age of five when his dad taught him his first chords and pushed him out onto a stage. Larry's early influences included Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis, Fats Domino and Chuck Berry -- some of the pioneers of Rock and Roll. Prior to that, Larry was exposed to everyone from Nat King Cole to Hank Williams whenever local musicians, family and friends gathered at the Diehl's to joyfully play and sing the music of the day. In the 60's, it was garage bands, Beatles and The Battle of the Bands. Then, in the summer of 1966, with his group the Lil' Boys Blue, Larry released his first single "I'm Not There." Touring followed and Larry soon found himself on stage opening for the likes of The Dave Clark Five and Credence Clearwater Revival. In the 70's when the music of singer-songwriters like James Taylor, Leonard Cohen and Paul Simon began to flow onto the scene, Larry traded-in his electric gear for an acoustic guitar and eagerly joined the stream. The 80's and 90's were all about day jobs, education and raising a family. As a manager in a high tech firm, Larry traveled the world gaining invaluable insights into many cultures and customs -- including of course, their music. Upon leaving tech around the turn of this century, Larry returned to his first love - music - and now spends his days and nights writing, recording and performing. He also teaches guitar and leads workshops on songwriting to pass along what he has learned, and hopefully his love of music. Today, when someone remarks they can hear a little Chuck Berry, Paul Simon or maybe James Taylor in his music, Larry takes it as a complement, comfortable in the knowledge that his songs have been grafted from so many great player's from his past, ultimately creating his own singer-songwriter's voice from the clippings. Larry lives in Northern California with his wife and 2 dogs. His Grandson, Son and Daughter-in-Law live just down the road apiece so life is sweet.
