KIM WILLIAMS BIOGRAPHY Kim Williams grew up on a small farm near Rogersville, Tennessee. He was the forth of eight children born to music-loving parents. He learned to play guitar early on and later played in bands from Chicago, Illinois to Deming, New Mexico. The songwriting bug first bit him when he was eleven years old and he's been writing songs ever since, in 1984 he made his first trip to Nashville to pursue a career in music. He spent the next five years learning the songwriting craft and working with several small publishing firms. Kim got his first taste of success with cuts on independent labels by Stonewall Jackson, Bobby G. Rice and others. In 1989 Kim signed a five year contract to write for Don Lanier and Tree International. In the past 19 years Kim has had the number one singles If The Devil Danced In Empty Pockets by Joe Diffie, Papa Loved Mama, It's Midnight Cinderella, Ain't Going Down 'Til The Sun Comes Up and She's Gonna Make It by Garth Brooks, The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter by Reba McEntire, Who Needs You Baby by Clay Walker, andThree Wooden Crosses by Randy Travis which was #1 in both Country and Christian genres and winner of the CMA, CCMA, GMA, NSAI, and ACM song of the year and the album Rise And Shine won the Grammy. ("Three Wooden Crosses" is now being turned into a movie by Marcie Gold the producer/director of "Touched By An Angel"). Kim has had Christian #1's with One Perfect Son and A Little Bit Of Faith by Jeff Silvey. He has also had hit singles with the songs Goodnight Sweetheart by David Kersh, Not Enough Hours In The Night by Doug Supernaw, Fall In Love by Kenny Chesney, Warning Labels by Doug Stone, She Loved A lot In Her Time by George Jones, Light At The End Of The Tunnel by B.B. Watson, My Blue Angel by Aaron Tippin, Haunted Heart by Sammy Kershaw, I'm The Only Thing I'll Hold Against You by Conway Twitty, Honky Tonk Truth by Brooks & Dunn, While You Loved Me by Rascall Flatts, Beer Run a duet with George Jones and Garth Brooks and "Pickin' Wildflowers by Keith Anderson. His song Overnight Male was featured in the soundtrack of the George Strait hit movie "Pure Country" and his song It's Not Like You was in the movie "Cadillac Ranch". He also co-wrote all the songs for the new animated movie "Wobots", marketed by Porch Light Entertainment in Europe in 2003 and the U.S. in 2004. His song "Seven Sundays In A Row", cut by Blue Highway became a #1 bluegrass song and was nominated for 'Bluegrass Song Of The Year" in 2006. Kim was nominated again for bluegrass song of the year in 2007 on a song written with his brother Larry Williams, and friend Larry Shell. The song is titled "The Last Suit You Wear" and is a powerful ballad sung by Larry Sparks and became a #1 bluegrass song. The Gaither Vocal Band has cut several of Kim's songs and recently cut "Love Can Turn The World", for it's new African Video Project. Kim's song Three Wooden Crosses is currently being made into a theatre based movie by Marcie Gold, the producer of the great T.V. series "Touched By An Angel". His song "Cajun Blood" is being turned into a book and possible future movie. In 1994, Kim won the ASCAP Country Songwriter of the Year Award. He has won 24 ASCAP Awards in all and: 1 ACM, 1CMA, 1CCMA, 1 NSAI, and 1 Dove award. His song 'I'm Loving Life' was the title cut of a Vocal Gaither Band Grammy award winner. He now splits his time between Nashville and his East Tennessee cabin on top of Clinch Mountain that he calls home. He enjoys the company of his wife Phyllis and his twin grandchildren Lily and Noah. He is also excitedly watching the career of his talented singer/songwriter daughter Amanda, a Berklee School of Music Grad, with whom he wrote the Grammy nominated Beer Run, a duet with George Jones and Garth Brooks.
