Pause for Effect
'Pause for Effect' was recorded in a Manhattan apartment with creaky old instruments and new-fangled recording software, when all were sleeping 'cept for the cat. Kevin Delaney sings, harmonizes and plunks away at various guitars, basses and keyboards, with a stellar assist from Rick Shields on violin and Dan Delaney on cello. The 12 strikingly original songs on 'Pause for Effect'' feature stirring melodies and poetic lyrics about life, love and the occasional drunken dock worker. ------------------------ 'Kevin Delaney's latest album is a nice move forward from his previous album, "Himalayan Moon." His singer/songwriter tunes are drenched in hard-working rock with Americana overtures. The sparse elements of stringed instruments (cello, violin, viola) go well with the more countriy-fried blues utensils of harmonica and mandolin.' -- Smother Magazine.
