Field of Stars-Best of the Pentology & Glorious St
A collection of favorites, this album includes previously unavailable material from the self-published 'Pentology' from 2006, which was a unique set of five discs with a rotating set of compositions different on each disc, and a constant set of compositions, which were present on each disc. The ever requested 'Long Reflection'; cheery and yet somber in it's insistent theme of pondering is the first piece on this disc, and remains the longest composition out of the artist's body of work to date. Originally on the Christmas album 'Glorious Star', 'The Herald Music Box' is an uncanny recollection of the spring-loaded, wind-up music boxes, and listeners can hear the tines of the music box as the pins roll over the musical forks of the comb. 'Lazy Days of Summer's Start' and 'Winter Comes' are reflective, eerie, piano pieces, each contemplating the soul of the seasons. Winter spirited songs, 'Canon Variations' and 'Dance In The Snow' are both melodic and spirited. 'Whispers of Dreams' forms a contemplative mood, and is one of three non-piano compositions. Romantic and gentle, 'Tenderly' evokes images of lovers entwining themselves, while 'A Silent Star' slowly raises it's voice from gentle to triumphant in a few minutes. 'Glorious Star' was the title song of the 2007 Christmas album, and remains a triumphant, glorious, and victorious image. A ballet for a skater, exacting and true, sweeping and elegant, is 'Skater's Ballet,' which was written in memory of the artist's daughter's beautiful performance at the 2005 Team Championships in Boston. Finally, as love must ultimately be to be true, 'Deeply' is the follow-on melody to 'Tenderly', an attribute that describes both the melody and the mood.
