Katie Stuckey's second full length Album, 'The Old States', includes seven songs written by Katie, two by guitarist/banjo player Will Thomas, two songs by bassist Mark Riddell, and two by guitarist/mandolin/banjo player Craig Feazel. The band earned nods at the Houston Press Music Awards in 06 and 07 earning 'Best Folk/Acoustic' and 'Best Country', respectively. Katie, who was voted best female vocalist by the Houston Press Music awards ('06 and '07) has this to say about the album, 'As we mature, so does our music. I'm excited about 'The Old States'. I know it will please our listeners and appeal to a new crowd as well. It has a little something for everyone and I think it's a good representation of the direction our band is moving in. I've learned in the past few years as a musician that the more I'm able to 'let go', the more things fall into place. We have evolved to incorporate a delicate haunting quality in our music that is captured well in 'The Old States'. I'm proud of the result, and I'm thankful to our listeners. A great record for a rainy night at home, or a long drive.' The album was produced by William Ryan Fritch of San Francisco, CA. Mixed by Paul McKenna of Los Angeles, CA. Mastered by Allen Corneau at Essential Sound Mastering. The artwork on the album was a gift from Bill Thomas, the photographs are a classic, real taste of Houston history taken by the late Horace Tucker.
