Karen's album Love Songs is nothing short of an incredible journey into the unique life and expression of this prolific Middle American Christian song writer and singer. Karen's depth as a Christian author and writer explodes onto the air waves demanding more than one genre to fully capture the very expressive and multi-cultural God collectively living in the hearts of Karen and her South African producer/husband Barry. Many of the songs on this album were written over a span of more than a decade and were specially produced and re-recorded at this present time to reflect where Barry and Karen's musical journey has taken them up to this point. The reason this CD is titled Love Songs is because every track on this CD has love as it's theme. The first song 'Moment' was written from the perspective of Jesus singing to His Father during His Earthly ministry, sort of a 'what would Jesus say to His Father while He was on the Earth' kinda vibe. This first track contain emotional expressions of longing, affection, worship and Jesus' eternal love for His Father. The second track 'Stevie's song' is about a mother's heart felt prayer and unconditional love for her son which was written by Karen for her middle son Steve during some difficult times in their relationship. Again the theme for this second song is love. The classic rock track number three 'Remember' again was written out of Karen's passionate love to see her children set free from the influence of the enemy and is intending to serve notice on the Devil for trying to divide and negatively impact her relationship with her children. Song four is a lighter Country almost Blue Grassy type song expressing Karen's love for Jesus and her desire to live with Him. Song five is a love song written by Karen when she first discovered love with husband 10 years ago and introduces her husband Barry on vocals. Track six is again a prayerful song written in a difficult time in Karen's life where she desperately asks Jesus to put a song in her heart and keep her love aflame for Him. Track seven is a song where Karen attempts to explore what the Father would sing if He had a song to sing about the apple of His eye Jesus. Track eight is a celebratory song set to a salsa feel again about Karen's passionate love for Jesus. Track nine is monumental in that it poetically summarizes the grand theme of God's sovereign love and power in Christ to effectuate His adoption plan for his adopted Gentile children against all odds. It escalates into strong first person declarations where God asserts His power over all other powers to carry out this eternal divine plan which was kept a mystery until His Son was manifest. Track ten is a unique reflective world music/new age genre kinda track which as the title goes is music suited for the first dance of the wedding feast of the blood bought Bride and the Bridegroom Jesus Christ, featuring Barry on the keys. The last track is about receiving the incredible, unconditional and deep love Jesus has for us, this love and this love alone changes us and lifts us up into His glory.
