Singer and songwriter Julie K channels her lifelong passion for music into writing songs that are inspirational, educational, and, most of all, enjoyable for the whole family. From the time she could hold a microphone at the age of 3, music has played a significant role in Julie K.'s life. She received a Bachelor of arts degree in vocal performance from Rollins College in Florida and owned a business teaching music and movement to children. Following a prompting from the Lord Julie K recorded her first album in 2009. Her debut CD, "A Sunny Day", introduces children to different musical genres - From Jazz to reggae to rock'n Roll - and inspires them to love music by making it approachable and fun. Julie has performed in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa and Oklahoma and most recently opened for Congressman Aaron Schock's Summer Reading Program event featuring special guest former First Lady Laura Bush. Driven by a desire to create music that children and their parents can enjoy together, Julie K is nationally recognized for her work. A Sunny Day is the recipient of a 2010 Parents Choice Award, Dr. Toy Best Vacation Product Award, Creative Child Award, Dove Family Approved Seal from the Dove Foundation, and a Rising Star recognition from NAPPA (National Parenting Publication Awards). Julie K lives in Peoria, Illinois with her firefighter husband and their 6 year old son Weston (the inspiration behind her music).
